Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: McMaster is a full-service university. With well-established strengths in health care, engineering, business, social sciences, science, and humanities research and education, the University offers both students and professors exciting and unique opportunities for research, education, and collaboration. With a long-standing reputation as Canada's "most innovative" university, McMaster has pioneered a number of programs that have changed how professors teach and students learn. Problem-based-learning (PBL), pioneered at McMaster, has now spread across North America as a preferred method of instructing undergraduate students. McMaster continues in its commitment to be Canada's most student-centred research university.
Since 1952, McMaster University has offered a business program that has created many industry leaders. In 1992 the School of Business expanded due to the generous support of Canadian entrepreneur, Michael G. DeGroote. The DeGroote School of Business has earned a strong reputation as a centre for academic excellence and innovation. An integral part of our innovative culture is our focus on experiential learning that enables students to gain hands-on experience through Co-op work terms, internships and assignments that stimulate learning, and lead to personal development and discovery and enhance their ability to function effectively very quickly after moving into their career paths. As a pioneer in the creation of the Co-op MBA model of learning, the DeGroote School of Business is the premier Co-op MBA School in Canada. We also offer full-time and part-time MBA options that meet the complex needs and learning styles of the leaders of tomorrow. The same high standards that have built our reputation as The Co-op MBA School* also apply to our undergraduate internships. As a leader in creating the first formal Commerce Internship Program, McMaster University remains the largest in the country.

www.urpercentile.com : What is the selection criteria for the courses and a typical profile of the student joining your university? What TOEFL ,GMAT/GRE score and/or GPA will be considered as competitive for admission to your university for International Applicants ?
Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: The DeGroote School of Business takes great care in reviewing each individual application. While academic performance and test scores for the GMAT and TOEFL (if applicable) are important measures, the School considers other critical variables with equal weight:
Proven leadership capabilities
Workplace experience
Ethical maturity
Business aptitude
Community involvement
Breadth of character
Overall contribution to society
Typically successful applicants' GMAT scores range upward from 600, depending on the program option you select (full-time, co-op, part-time, accelerated). Your overall GMAT score is considered in its totality. Verbal and quantitative results are also separated, enabling a complete understanding of your skills. Your GMAT score is just one of many factors considered. It is one part of an entire application which is thoroughly reviewed in whole to gain a complete understanding of each applicant's unique strengths, experience and skills.
In addition, successful candidates typically have a minimum B average in each of the most recent two years of university studies.A typical registrant will have a minimum of one year work experience for our full-time and part-time programs. This work experience is varied. The School is interested in not only the type of work but also the quality of that work and the full scope of your professional and personal activities.
TOEFL results are required for those candidates who do not hold a post secondary degree from a program whose language of instruction is English. A typical registrant will have a minimum total score of 100 on the internet-based test, 250 on the computerized test or 600 on the written test. Other evidence of proficiency in English may also be considered.

Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: $50,000 CDN for the two year program.

www.urpercentile.com : Are students eligible to work on part-time basis to cover some of their expenses ? How easy or difficult is it for international students to find such job ?
Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: Based on study visa rules, International students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during their academic semesters. Jobs are both available on-campus and off-campus in different departments or retail outlets.

www.urpercentile.com :Once a student completes his education from your university, is he eligible to stay in Canada and find a job for himself ?
Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: The Canadian Government allows students a certain period of time to secure employment here in Canada following the completion of their academic program. I would suggest visiting the Government of Canada website for more details : www.canada.ca

www.urpercentile.com : What percentage of students in your current programs are from India and Indian Sub-continent?
Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: In the MBA program, I would say about 3% of our student body came originally from India. In the general university population, it is a bigger number but I do not have access to such data.

www.urpercentile.com : Why should an Indian student come to Canada for a Management course ?
Mr Benoit Chapdelaine: Because we offer a great academic environment based on the knowledge of professors/experts as well as industry people. Our professors and instructors are approachable and they really care for the well-being of all students. Canada, Ontario and Hamilton specifically are areas of great ethnic diversity where variances in cultural, social and religious backgrounds are celebrated. One would find a warm, welcoming and open-minded community where the common theme is the pursuit of higher education and acceptance for all.
