CHRIST COLLEGE , BANGALORE From : Sucheta GD : 1) GD WAS FOR: Christ College 2) NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE GD: 15 3) NUMBER OF PEOPLE EVALUATING: 2 4) ABOUT YOURSELF (Education/Work Experience/Calls etc): I am microbiology honours graduate from Gurudas college under Calcutta University. I appeared for CAT, MAT and SNAP exams. I received calls from Army institute of management, Christ college, Alliance Business Academy, EMPI, IIML and Symbiosis institute of Mangement studies. 5) ABOUT THE REMAINING MEMEBRS IN THE GD : Most members in my GD group were from kolkata and from diverse background like science, commerce, engineering, arts. three participants had work experience. 6) GD TOPIC: “Banning of trade unions will be beneficial in the growth of the economy." 7) BRIEF DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE GD : The particpants were made to sit in a semicircular arrangement with each participant sitting according to the number assigned to them previously. After all had settled in and the topic had been given, we were asked to tell about the calls we had received and a little bit about ourselves. I was nervous. I was assigned fourth postion in the arrangement. So everyone began their introductions according to serial number. I was extremely nervous so i did not manage to say much about my self and I passed on te oppurtunity to the person after me. First one of the participants explained what trade unions were and what was their function in the scheme of things. After which another participant took the initiative and expressed his views against the topic. Since time was ticking and there were 15 people who needed to speak. after the second speaker concluded it seemed like everyone was eager to talk and soon the GD reembled a fish market. Some of us realised the situation and tried to bring order but it seems we couldn't be heard and so the chaos continued and was stopped only after the evaluators informed that the time was up. During this entire exercise only two participants managed to get some order for a very brief period of time. There was no conclusion of the topic as we never reached a consensus.. 8) DURATION OF THE GD: It was conducted for a duration of 20 minutes. 9) HOW WAS YOUR PERFORMANCE: My performance was extremely bad in this GD because not only did no one get to hear my viewpoint, I couldn't get the group under control, also i did not capitalise on the opportunity to introduce myself. All in all a very poor show indeed 10) AREAS WHERE YOU COULD HAVE PERFORMED BETTER: Should have been more assertive. Should have had better knowlegde about the topic and also may be should have been less nervous. 11) FINAL RESULT : I was not selected for the next round i.e. the interview stage. 12) YOUR SUGGESTIONS FOR THE UrPERCENTILE.COM SUBSCRIBERS PREPARING FOR GD : My suggestion would be to stay calm during the proceedings otherwise the brain just shuts up. Be through with your preparation. Try to capitalise on the weakness of others but don't be disrespectful to anyone during the GD. 13) FEEDBACK ON THE WEBSITE URPERCENTILE.COM: Urpercentile. com is a great site for those who are pursuing CAT. They have links to all the possible information you need for CAT plus their hurdles are indeed quite good. If you can do them regularly and sincerely you will surely come on top. Also there are plenty of members contributing great stuff to the site. that is also very helpful . Urpercentile has definitely been very heplful in my preparation for CAT and the other exams. Thank you urpercentile.
From : Meenakshi I am a member of this group. I have completed my B.Com. in
the academic year 2005 and am currently residing in Kerala. I The G.D. and the P.I. was conducted in Bangalore itself. Mine was on 16th Feb. at the College Campus itself. GD : The procedure started with a presentation about the college at 8:30 a.m. I was late for 20 minutes. So, I missed quite a lot of things. However, my G.D. batch of 15 students was the 3rd one. The topic given to us was"Rapists should be given death sentence?" This time I tried to generate some points as well as controlled and directed the group. The time given to us was 20 minutes with no written summary. Some 150 candidates gave the G.D. on that day and only 45 got selected for the P.I.. I was one among the selected people. I was very happy. INTERVIEW: "Questions asked": I was in the 2nd batch for the P.I. , which was
from 3:00 -4:00 p.m. The interview panel consisted of 2 faculty
members of the college itself.
