Business
there were 13 ppl in the GD n 2 ppl on the panel. one person
suggested the voting method n by majority we reached on the
1st topic. it was a good GD but my contribution was hardly
present.at the end they asked each one of us to conclude the
GD.
INTERVIEW:
Then came the interview. i was the 10th person to be interviewd
in my group. n when the girl immediately before me came out
crying of the interview room, i was shocked. There were 2 ppl on

10.in the budget some assistance was given to a college. tell us
abt. that
On the whole the interview went for around 20 min. and i feel it was
a good interview. I could answer most of the questions. and the
interviewrs looked quite impressed rest they know better.
On whole my GD was bad and Interview was good. That's what i feel.
wHat the panel feels , the results will tell.
The GD was a complete
fish market situation. 5-6 guys were screaming at the top of their
voices and not letting others to speak. the discussion went
haywire and some of us tried to bring it back on track and give
each person a chance to put across their view points. 1st 10
mins were pathetic then it came back on track but overall not a
great GD i must say.
INTERVIEW :
The interview panel was very chilled out and friendly. but since i
have no work exp, they asked me quite a few technical q's.
Some of them were:
What is the political scenario in the country like now?
What is the difference between marketing and selling?
What does USP stand for? Some tech q's on the same. i applied
USP to a couple of products and companies. They asked me my
USP. So i answered for the same.
Give me a swot analysis about urself. Just a general analysis of
ur strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
Some questions on co-curricular activities and my interests.
What are the advantages of a fresher as compared to a work exp
person?
The interview was basically a friendly one, including a little grilling
as far as mine goes. The interview lasted for about 10-15 mins.

I had My GD/PI session at 8 AM today ( 17 March). Venue : Indian
Social Institute , New Delhi .
Around 80 people were present for the GD/PI session . Around
10 people had not turned up .
Allocation of groups for the GD was as per order of registeration.
My group had 8 people including yours truly .
Background of the applicants was mixed . Two girls and six guys
. One of the girls was BSc(Hons) Physics St. Stephens college
and the other one was a Maths honours graduate from
Venkateshwara college. The guys were of varied profiles , one
CA ( Final ) one engineer one Electronics graduate , etc.
Two topics were given :
A ) Success is 1% hard work and 99 % luck .
B) Government has no business to be in business.
The group choose the second topic by a majority of 7 is to 1.
The panel comprised of two members , a gentleman ( senior
profile ) and a middle aged lady . They were unobstrusive and
polite.
Group Discussion :
It was cordial , a fish market situation did not arise . Almost
everyone spoke. we discussed the corruption endemic in
government run businesses , conflict of interest ; failure of Indian
economic strategy vis-a-vis China , role of private sector in
ensuring social justice etc. In the end the CA (final) dude
concluded by stressing the need for the government and private
sector to work in tandem. I added that whatever the strategy
adopted the ultimate goal has to be the development of the
country and the welfare of the people. Everyone concurred .
Personal Interview :
This lasted for 25 minutes . The panel was different from the GD
panel. One lady ( a Sharon Lowen lookalike ) and a senior
gentleman who seemed like a veteran banker.
I was grilled on my background( I am a hotel management
passout ) , WHy MBA? Hospitality sector in India , failure of India
to attract tourists vis-a-vis China , future areas of growth in the
Indian economy , demographic window of opportunity available
to India and how should it be leveraged etc .
The panel was friendly . A lot of questions were directed at my
work exp , 360 degree appraisal versus normal PMS , employee
attrition , challenges and learnings derived etc .
I was also asked to do a SWOT on NMIMS versus another
management institute.
In the end , the only jarring note was that the lady interviewer
expressed regret over my low rank in the written SMAT . That
could be a reason of rejection , in case i am rejected .
All in all a decent interview , the panel is not psyching anyone .
They just want to know you better , the onus is on you to lead
them to your areas of strength.
Thats my GD/PI experience in a nutshell and all the best to all my
fellow aspirants .
