IMK Alumini - Fresher Meet - SANGAM- '09

Sangam, the annual alumni meet of IIM Kozhikode achieved remarkable heights this year. With the event being hosted at six cities across India it witnessed the highest attendance in the event history by alumni along with freshmen from the coming in batch, the Class of 2011. The cities of Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad were the venues for the event where past students from the institute’s various academic programs attended. The event was partnered by Apollo Hospitals and the beverages sponsored by the UB Group.

There were very senior people coming down with their families who enjoyed an evening of meeting and catching up with old friends. There were stories told of their days at the campus and some words of wisdom imparted to those who are going to continue the legacy.

Delhi had a very vibrant mix of alumni and freshers who had lots to share with each other. Mumbai being the financial capital was a very effervescent gathering with many alumni based out of Mumbai. Chennai and Hyderabad also had their share of fun with music and dance to add to the glitter. Bangalore and Kolkata had many senior alumni coming in. The first IIM K couple of Mr. Nitin Gupta and Mrs. Supreet Gupta shared their memories of the campus, which was a first at Sangam this year, making it all the more unique.

The Alumni committee had arranged for a nostalgic video of the life at the campus, to revive the good old memories of the alumni and give a sneak peek to the new batch of what all to expect.

The present batch had a plethora of questions for the alumni on how to progress with their ideas and about the current state of the economy and what can be done to benefit from it. The event was a melting pot of ideas with the alumni having deep expertise and experience in the industry there to disseminate and share their experiences. Parting, everyone wished for more such events to happen on a more frequent basis. A journey into time and back, that was Sangam 2009.

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode is organizing its annual alumni-fresher meet Sangam ’09 on the 23rd of May, 2009 in six cities across India, viz. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Sangam is a platform where more than a thousand of IIM Kozhikode’s alumni, current students and the incoming batch are brought together. The event brings the past, the present and the future of IIM Kozhikode together for an evening where stories are told, memories are relived, camaraderie and friendship is rekindled, dreams are born and experiences are shared, budding entrepreneurs, leaders and managers are encouraged to achieve their goals.

This mega event is organized annually by the Alumni Committee of IIM Kozhikode and has been a huge success each year owing to the rapidly growing, vibrant and tremendously successful IIM Kozhikode community.

The task of organizing an event simultaneously at six cities across India is no mean one. There is exhaustive planning and scheduling involved in making the event happen at such a large scale. The students carry out rigorous activity, taking time out from their busy summer-internship schedules to make the event a success.

Sangam provides a great opportunity for the incoming batch to get their multifarious queries answered not only by the current students but also the alumni who can give a bigger perspective. The incoming batch gets an opportunity of getting a taste of what life is like at the campus before actually visiting it. The event provides an opportunity for the budding managers to get their ideas listened to and receive relevant advice on their prospects and how to put them into practice. The confluence of the different batches makes for an exciting time when deep industry expertise meets the vibrant youth, the next generation leaders.

Taj West End, Bengaluru; The Palm Court, New Delhi; Citizen Hotel, Mumbai; The Chola Sheraton, Chennai; The Ivory, Kolkata and Celebrations, Hyderabad will be the venues for the event starting from 7:30 p.m. on this Saturday evening.
