EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW OF THANNEERMALAI LAKSHMANAN TO UrPERCENTILE ABOUT XLRI SINGAPORE

www.UrPercentile.com : Kindly tell our subscribers about XLRI Singapore and the courses conducted there.

Mr. Thanneer : We plan to conduct the 2-year XLRI PGDBM with specializations in Marketing, Economics, Finance, HR, Production & Operation Mgt, Strategic Mgt and Info Systems as well as the 1 year Executive Diploma in Management.

www.UrPercentile.com :  What is the selection criteria for the courses and a typical profile of the student who will be joining your institute.

Mr Thaneer : Criteria include a Bachelors degree from a reputed university, a good GMAT, GRE or XAT score and passing the XLRI interview.

Mr Thaneer : Doing a Management course in Singapore offers the following unique benefits:

www.urpercentile.com : What are the differentiators of XLRI Singapore in terms of faculty, infrastructure, facilities etc ?

Mr Thaneer : We do our best replicate the atmosphere of XLRI Jamshedpur albeit with local elements. We have a mini-campus, complete with a library, wireless internet connection. Outside the building, all amenities are available – shops, eateries, banks, supermarkets, bus terminal, shuttle services to the train station, etc.

www.urpercentile.com : How much will a student coming from abroad  have to spend for the course ? Are there any banks offerring education loan for the course being conducted at XLRI Singapore.

Mr Thaneer : Total, inclusive of course fees should come to S$50,000 (Rs 15 lakhs) for the 2 years. For India-origin students, most banks provide loans up to Rs 15 lakhs with the XLRI offer letter and adult guarantee.

www.urpercentile.com : Can you please tell us about the job placement scenario after the course is completed ?

Mr Thaneer : We have setup a Placement Advisory Team to assist students in securing jobs in Singapore upon graduation. Placement is only in Singapore and is separate from XLRI Jamshedpur’s placements.

We can assure students of job interviews with recruiters. Securing a job and negotiating a pay package will depend on their performance in the job interview.

www.urpercentile.com : Once the course is over , can the student continue to stay in Singapore and work in Singapore ?

Mr Thaneer : Students can stay until their Student Pass expires, which is usually 1 -2 months after their last class/exam/thesis is over. They may apply for jobs but continued stay is guaranteed only upon securing employment.

Mr Thaneer : We are not only looking at academically brilliant students, but also those with the ability to cope with a Full-time MBA in a foreign country. Essentially we are looking for people who can adapt in Singapore, perform well in their studies here and go on to land a job here.
